Islamic Motivational Story in English
Son of Jew Embraced Islam
A Jewish man
once instructed his only son, “Go to the market and buy some household items.”
The boy obediently set out, but along the way, he encountered Prophet Muhammad
(Peace be upon Him). Their eyes met, and the profound effect of the Prophet’s
gaze overwhelmed the boy. He stopped in his tracks, captivated, and sat there
for a long time.
Meanwhile, the
father grew restless, wondering why his son hadn’t returned. The sun began to
set, and still, the boy hadn’t arrived home. When he finally returned late in
the evening, the father was furious.
“Why are you so
late?” he demanded. “I sent you to buy things, but you’ve come back
empty-handed! Where are the items?”
The boy calmly
replied, “Father, I have bought everything.”
His father, now
even angrier, shouted, “What nonsense! You say you’ve bought the items, yet you
have nothing with you!”
The boy smiled
softly and said, “Father, I wish you had the eyes to see what I have truly
bought today.”
Confused but
noticing a change in his son’s demeanor, the father let the matter rest. From
that day on, the boy began visiting the Prophet (Peace be upon Him) daily. He
would sit in His blessed company, listening, learning, and drawing closer to
Islam.
The father,
despite being a devoted Jew, loved his son deeply. Though he disagreed with his
son’s newfound devotion, he chose to remain silent. A few weeks later, the boy
fell gravely ill. His health declined rapidly, and it became clear that his
time on earth was drawing to a close.
In his distress,
the father, despite his beliefs, ran to the Prophet (Peace be upon Him). With
desperation in his voice, he said, “O Muhammad, I am a Jew, and I do not agree
with you. But my son is devoted to you. He loves you deeply and calls for you
day and night. He is on his deathbed now, and his only wish is to see you. Will
you, my enemy, fulfill his last wish and come to my home?”
Hearing this,
the Prophet (Peace be upon Him) turned to His companions and said, “Let us go
and see our beloved follower. It is his final moment in this world, and we must
grant him peace.”
When they
arrived at the boy’s home, his eyes were closed, and his frail body lay still.
The Prophet (Peace be upon Him) placed His blessed hand on the boy’s forehead,
and immediately, the boy’s eyes fluttered open. His face lit up with joy upon
seeing the Prophet, and a gentle smile spread across his lips.
The Prophet
(Peace be upon Him) said softly, “Recite the Kalima.”
The boy glanced
at his father, unsure. The father, overwhelmed by the scene before him, said,
“What are you waiting for, my son? Do as Muhammad says.”
The boy turned
back to the Prophet (Peace be upon Him) and said, “O Messenger of Allah, I have
nothing to give.”
The Prophet
replied, “You have your faith. Recite the Kalima, and I promise you Paradise.”
With tears in
his eyes, the boy recited the Kalima: “La ilaha illallah Muhammadur
Rasulullah” (There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger). As
the words left his lips, his soul departed, and his face shone with peace.
The father,
witnessing this, was overcome with emotion. He turned to the Prophet (Peace be
upon Him) and said, “Muhammad, my son is no longer mine. He belongs to Islam.
Please honor him by taking him and arranging his burial.”
The Prophet
(Peace be upon Him) and His companions carried the boy’s body, leading the
funeral procession with great reverence. The Prophet Himself descended into the
grave to lay the boy to rest.
When He
emerged, His face showed signs of fatigue. The companions asked, “O Messenger
of Allah, why did you walk on your toes in the grave?”
The Prophet
(Peace be upon Him) replied, “The grave was filled with angels. I walked
carefully to avoid stepping on them.”
“Why did you
enter the grave yourself?” they asked.
The Prophet
smiled and said, “I promised this boy I would make his grave a garden of
Paradise. I entered to fulfill that promise.”
The companions
then asked, “Why do you seem so tired?”
The Prophet
(Peace be upon Him) replied, “The angels and maidens of Paradise came to
welcome this boy. As they passed by Me, their presence caused this fatigue.”
The Prophet
(Peace be upon Him) then raised His hands and said, “All praise is due to
Allah, who has forgiven this boy through me.”
