LOCUST ATTACK ON SYRIA

During World War-I, Locusts invaded Syria and destroyed orchards and crops. Due to which there was a famine and a large number of creatures died.

Meanwhile, a man's garden in the village of Daria in Ghouta remained perfectly safe and fresh. The locusts did him no harm. So the people complained to government that the man had medicine to kill the locusts but he did not tell anyone about it.

The government then sent a soldiers troop to punish him. The officer picked up the whip on the man and asked, "Why did you keep this pesticide secret from the government and the people?" "Everyone knows about that medicine which I used, but no one wants to use it," he said. The officer asked, "What is that medicine?" He replied that Zakat.

The officer asked, "Can the locust differentiate between those who pay Zakat and those who do not?" The man said, "Yes, try it." So the soldiers would leave the locusts in the garden and they the locusts run away.

Then the man narrated the Hadith that the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon Him) said: “Protect your property with Zakat, treat the sick with charity and humble yourself before Allah Almighty to avoid the bad times”.

Zakat had defeated the locusts and the garden was protected from all kinds of damage.

We should give Zakat to as many deserving people as possible so that Allah Almighty protects us from the plague like Coronavirus. (Ameen)
