Share Your Sustenance with Others

When you're earning a good living, it’s easy to think that it’s a result of your intelligence or hard work. But the truth is, no matter how successful we become, we are still dependent on factors beyond our control.

Even the brightest minds can fall, and many great thinkers have found themselves struggling, despite their brilliance. Success isn't always a measure of our abilities but often a result of luck, timing, and circumstances beyond our grasp.

Similarly, if you've survived a major illness, it’s not because of your perfect diet or strict hygiene habits.

Many people who were very careful about their health, drank only mineral water, and followed every precaution still found themselves suddenly diagnosed with serious diseases like brain tumors, blood cancer, or hepatitis C. And in just a few days, they were gone. It’s a stark reminder that health, too, is not entirely in our hands.

If your family is well-behaved, respectful, and obedient, it's easy to take credit for their virtues, thinking it’s all due to your careful upbringing. But the reality is, even the children of prophets faced challenges, and their families weren’t immune to disobedience.

It's a humbling thought that no matter how much we try to influence the outcomes, some things are just beyond our control.

On the other hand, if you’ve never been a victim of theft, whether it's your wallet or phone, it doesn't mean you're particularly clever or cautious. It simply means that Allah has protected you from such misfortunes.

It’s important to recognize that not everything we avoid or achieve is a result of our own smartness; often, it's the divine protection or blessings that shield us.

As humans, we tend to become arrogant when things go well. When we earn more than others, we often think we are smarter or more disciplined than those who are less fortunate. We may even criticize or belittle those who don’t have as much. But the reality is that life is unpredictable.

Things can change in an instant, and the tables can turn, leaving us to realize that what we thought was true was far from it.

If you don’t want to face the test of sustenance, there are three key things you can do to keep yourself grounded:

1.   Consider everything you have as a gift from Allah, not the result of your own abilities or efforts. No matter how hard we work, it’s ultimately Allah who provides. Always remain grateful and thankful.

2.   Do not look down on those with less sustenance, nor feel envious of those who have more. Sustenance is Allah’s gift, and He distributes it as He sees fit. We can never fully understand His reasons.

3.   Share your sustenance with others. If you have more, give more. If you have less, share as much as you can. Start with your parents and close family members, like siblings, grandparents, and relatives. Then, reach out to others in need—neighbors, friends, or anyone struggling. The act of giving doesn’t just benefit the receiver; it brings blessings into your life as well.

When you give, when you share, you create an atmosphere of prayer around you. When others pray for you, the blessings of Allah flow like a refreshing rain, nurturing your life in ways you can never imagine.

So, be generous and thankful, and remember, true contentment comes not just from what we have, but from sharing it with those who need it most.
