Motivational Story by Jalaluddin Rumi

A man left home in the dark of night to pray in a mosque. He stumbled because of the darkness and fell into the mud. He got up from the mud, returned home, changed his clothes and walked back to the mosque. He had just taken a few steps when he stumbled again and fell into the mud. He got up from the mud and went back home again. He changed his clothes and left the house again to go to the mosque.

At the door of the house, he found a man holding a bright lamp in his hand. The man with the lamp quietly walked towards the mosque in front of the worshiper. This time in the light of the lamp, the worshiper did not face any difficulty in reaching the mosque and he reached the mosque safely. When he reached the door of the mosque, the man with the lamp stopped. The worshiper left him there and entered the mosque and began to offer prayers.

When he came out of the mosque after the prayers, he saw the man with a lamp waiting for him so that he could left the worshiper at home with light of the lamp. When the worshiper reached his house, he asked the stranger: Who are you? The stranger said: To tell the truth, I am Iblis (Satan). The worshiper was surprised. He asked: You should have been happy when my prayers were over, then why did you bring me to the mosque in the light of the lamp?

Iblis replied: When you first stumbled, Allah forgave you the sins of your whole life. When you stumbled again, Allah forgave your whole family. I was worried that if you stumbled again and fell, Allah would forgave all your villagers. That is why, I have brought a lamp so that you can reach the mosque without stumble.
