One dark night, a man left his home to pray at the mosque. As he walked through the darkness, he stumbled and fell into the mud. Determined, he got up, returned home to clean himself, changed his clothes, and set off again.

But just a few steps into his journey, he tripped and fell into the mud once more. Undeterred, he went back home, cleaned himself again, and started toward the mosque for a third time.

This time, as he stepped outside his house, he saw a man standing at his door, holding a lamp. Without saying a word, the man with the lamp began walking ahead, lighting the way to the mosque. Guided by the light, the worshiper finally reached the mosque safely.

After completing his prayers, he came outside and saw the same man waiting with the lamp, ready to escort him back home. Once they arrived, the worshiper couldn’t hold back his curiosity. “Who are you?” he asked.

The man replied, “To tell you the truth, I am Iblis (Satan).”

Startled, the worshiper exclaimed, “You’re Satan? Why would you help me reach the mosque?”

Satan explained, “The first time you stumbled and fell, Allah forgave all your past sins. When you stumbled again, He forgave the sins of your entire family. I was afraid that if you fell a third time, Allah would forgive all the people in your village. So, I brought this lamp to ensure you wouldn’t stumble again.”

एक अंधेरी रात में, एक आदमी मस्जिद में नमाज़ पढ़ने के लिए अपने घर से निकला। अंधेरे में चलते हुए वह लड़खड़ा गया और कीचड़ में गिर गया। दृढ़ निश्चयी होकर वह उठा, घर लौटा और खुद को साफ किया, कपड़े बदले और फिर चल पड़ा।

लेकिन अपनी यात्रा में कुछ ही कदम आगे बढ़ने पर वह फिर से लड़खड़ा गया और कीचड़ में गिर गया। बिना रुके, वह घर वापस गया, खुद को फिर से साफ किया और तीसरी बार मस्जिद की ओर चल पड़ा।

इस बार, जब वह अपने घर से बाहर निकला, तो उसने देखा कि उसके दरवाजे पर एक आदमी खड़ा है, जिसके हाथ में एक दीया है। बिना कुछ कहे, दीया लिए वह आदमी मस्जिद का रास्ता रोशन करते हुए आगे बढ़ने लगा। रोशनी की मदद से, नमाज़ पढ़ने वाला आखिरकार सुरक्षित मस्जिद पहुँच गया।

अपनी नमाज़ पूरी करने के बाद, वह बाहर आया और देखा कि वही आदमी दीया लिए इंतज़ार कर रहा है, जो उसे वापस घर ले जाने के लिए तैयार है। जब वे पहुँचे, तो नमाज़ पढ़ने वाला अपनी जिज्ञासा को रोक नहीं सका। उसने पूछा, “तुम कौन हो?”

उस आदमी ने जवाब दिया, “सच बताऊँ तो मैं इब्लीस (शैतान) हूँ।”

चौंककर, नमाजी ने कहा, “तुम शैतान हो? तुम मुझे मस्जिद तक पहुँचने में क्यों मदद करोगे?” शैतान ने समझाया, “पहली बार जब तुम लड़खड़ाकर गिरे थे, तो अल्लाह ने तुम्हारे पिछले सभी पापों को माफ कर दिया था। जब तुम फिर से लड़खड़ाए, तो उसने तुम्हारे पूरे परिवार के पापों को माफ कर दिया। मुझे डर था कि अगर तुम तीसरी बार गिरे, तो अल्लाह तुम्हारे गाँव के सभी लोगों को माफ कर देगा। इसलिए, मैं यह दीपक लाया हूँ ताकि यह सुनिश्चित हो सके कि तुम फिर से न लड़खड़ाओ।”
