Short Moral Story in English

A Wicked Woman and A Naïve Man

A simple and trusting man married a cunning woman who was already six months pregnant. Just three months into their marriage, she gave birth to a child. The man was overjoyed, thinking that he was blessed with a virtuous wife and that Allah had quickly granted him the joy of fatherhood.

However, when he stepped out into the bazaar, people began mocking him instead of offering congratulations. Confused and hurt, he asked them why they were ridiculing him. They bluntly told him, "That child isn’t yours; it’s the result of her previous actions. A child takes nine months to be born, not three."

Angry and humiliated, the man confronted his wife when he got home. He demanded an explanation, accusing her of wrongdoing. The clever woman, unfazed, replied, "You’re so simple, falling for their lies.

Let me explain. A baby does take nine months, and if you calculate properly, you’ll see I’m right. How long have we been married?"

"Three months," he replied.

"And how long have I been with you?" she asked.

"Three months," he said again.

"And how long has the baby been here?" she continued.

"Three months," he answered.

"Exactly! Three months for you, three for me, and three for the baby. That’s nine months. People are just jealous."

Satisfied with her explanation, the man believed her and dismissed the gossip as baseless jealousy.

Moral Lesson: Blind trust and naivety can lead to being easily deceived.
